Artist's Comments

This was taken today, April 15th 2006 in Toronto. I was there 2 weeks ago and saw these people then as well.

It makes me sick that these kinds of things still exist and will no doubt continue to do so. It's funny how blind people are to world situations, I am one of those rather in the dark myself, but I try to learn what I can. It's just sad how many people avoid these kinds of issues altogether, trying to act as if the problems don't exist, or just not caring because they don't feel it does or will ever effect them.

Anyways, comments appriciated!

Wow! This is so amazing and sad. That's true, especially about us being blind to what's happening in the world. But we rely on the media, which doesn't always give us the news.

Great pic!!

true, many people buy without knowing where that stuff came from, like all the sweatshops that Nike and GAP has in Asia, I watched a documentary about this and it is slavery what they do there......... hits and bruises, lousy 5 cents salaries, etc incredible that in the modern days this companies do this kind of stuff ..... and now organ traffic jesus..... just plain horrible!!!

excellent photo!

no, the mainstream media is not all the news that there is. They can manipulate it to anything they want really. People rely on mainstream media to much, just in the sense that most people don't realize all of the more underground media networks that are even ore important than mainstrem media and will release news that other stations/networks/papers won't.

and thanks!

thats so sad :( And what's more sad, is that everyone is aware that these thigns exists, and most people will agree they are bad and shouldn't be supported....so why do people keep doing just that (supporting it)? I am aware that is a bit hypocritical of me just because I'm sure something I own is from some bad place. I try to be conciencess (i cant type today) when I buy things but I don't know enough and I think that's another thing. People know it's out there but still don't know where what they buy comes from. *rambles*

thanks alot!

It's so sad how so many innocent people are losing their lives in third world countries just because their messed up governments just don't have any warm blood left in their hearts... if they have hearts to begin with.

It makes sense why theyre not recieving much aid to rebuild their countries infrastructure because cicilised countries with the money know that the politicians there are FUCKING corrupted and will probably extend their regimes of brutality across borders. And all the innocent people there just have to suffer because of this complication...

Damn...

Well captured photo elle. Well done indeed!

thanks alot!

yep i hear ya. Politics suck. Governments who don't care about their people suck, and past governments who screwed over future governmetn suck. There are some countries who are in debt tons of money from an old government that wasted the money to build some shitty palace or something and so the countries don't even have enough money to support their own population let alone make sure it doesn't go to hell. That has to do with other things though...poli sci class haha. bah.

the thing is to try to be as aware as possible and not endorse them to do that (to not buy from them)

Go me! :D

But yeah, I was going to say the same thing as "eduardofrench" said: try not to buy everything you see.
